Where did all the Quants go?
Quantitative Finance has always been a peripheral interest of mine. Peripheral mainly because I never invested in the secondary education that typically endows you with the mathematical wit required to develop such esoteric vehicles for exploting market innificiencies. That said I still like to dabble in it in order to satisfy my unlimited curiosity in business domains that constantly outgrow the technology that available to them.
Quantitative finance definitely fits that description. You can not have too much computing power and you can never have enough experience in both math and computer science in order to accell in this field.
If you’re in the quant field or even remotely related to it, you’ll be interested in checking out this blog called Quantster that tracks many local gatherings related to the quant field. If you decide you want to tap into this lucrative field (and you have the mental equipment to enter it), or even if you’re already knee deep in this space, you’ll also want to check out the Quanster job posting section. I am not aware of a more comprehensive listing for quant positions on the Internet.
