Zune With Cordless Headphones: File Next to Pigs, Flying

A little bird sent us this clearly doctored image of a Zune with some mysterious “WiFi” headphones that apparently use a chip technology yet unknown to modern man to compress a DSP and Wi-Fi receiver into buds the size of an anal polyp. Please, friends, don’t be fooled - Microsoft could never come out with something this cool.

Well, it wouldn’t necessarily have to be a *wi-fi* receiver, and the “DSP” could be a simple digital-to-analog converter, but at the very least, you’d need *some* kind of radio receiver, a D/A converter, PLUS an amplifier to drive the earbud speakers. Then you still need batteries in the earbuds to power all of the circuitry…
If you *really* wanted to make this work, I guess you could use dongle to plug into the Zune’s dock connector that had an FM radio transmitter, kind of like the FM modulator kits for car use. Then each earbud would only need to have an FM receiver, battery, and tiny amp.
